The treatment is very quick and extremely effective. Dr. Barrett may not recommend the IPL® photofacial if you have tanned or dark skin, as this may cause unwanted side effects.

What Should I Expect from IPL® Photofacial?
Our IPL® photofacial works by targeting flaws with pulses of a high intensity light energy. You may see results after one treatment, but the best results occur in patients who have up to five treatments over a period of three weeks.
The procedure begins by applying a gel to your skin to keep it cool. The light energy is administered in short pulses. Treatments can take from a few minutes to an hour depending on the size of the treatment area and the type of problem that is being corrected.
